Otherwise, a great buy. It has actually saved me from buying a new computer for the house due to the limited number of USB ports on our present PC. But the extension cords are very inexpensive and it's well worth the price. For someone like me, I needed that in the description to fully understand the workings of the unit. This is a great unit by adding 4 USB ports to your existing computer. Be aware though that this unit has a short cord so if you have a PC and your USB port is in the front like ours, you may have to get a small extension cord in order that it doesn't fall out of the socket every time you put in, or take out, a peripheral. Obviously, there is a male part on the cord, that fits into the USB port of your computer.
I never imagined that Linksys would still be selling such an outdated and basically useless item. THIS IS AN OUTDATED USB 1.0 hub. But sadly, it's not and is so slow even the computer flashed a message suggesting I use a better product. First, it's my fault. I did NOT clearly read the info. Had it been USB 2.0 compliante it would be ***** and a great item.
The only point negative is usb port 1.1, but linksys=cisco so my money its guarantied
This is an antiquated hub and will work very slowly if you're doing any data transfer at all. Very cheap linksys.Avoid, and get the belkin 4-port, which is powered AND 2.0. This hub is not 2.0. I had transfers completely stop after one minute. Also, it doesn't come with a power cable, although there is a port for power.
Won't work well with any newer computer. I thought I was getting the newest version, the 2.0, but this is only a 1.1, which is much slower and to think I paid $16.98 for this.I'm sending it back. Very disappointed.
